Chicago-Frankfurt
We are leaving Chicago late afternoon via Lufthansa on your non-stop flight to Frankfurt . Cocktails and dinner will be served en route.
One hour before landing they will serve breakfast. After checking through immigration and customs we will board a train to Göppingen. After a 2 hour ride we will arrive in Göppingen and after checking into the hotel the afternoon is free for your own activities. We will meet for dinner at 7:30 and probably will call it a night after that.
We are visiting the Bavarian Railroad Museum in Nördlingen. After looking at all the locomotives we will board a steam train to bring us to Dinkelsbühl. Our bus will pick us up there and drive us to Rothenburg, one of the quaintest towns in Germany . After a tour around town and dinner we will board our bus and return to Göppingen.

The bus will bring us to the Märklin factory. We will see how the locomotive bodies come out of the molds, how they will get painted and decorated. A test run for each locomotive will be done before they are packed up. After all that excitement we will have lunch at the Park Restaurant. Now we are heading over to the Märklin Museum . This is for the true Marklin enthusiast-you can see precious items from the late 1870's till now. Luckily all the items, which were stolen in January, are back.

Day 5, Tuesday, September 27
This will definitely be a fun day. We take the train to Munich . After about 2 hours we will arrive at the main station. We will spend some time there and watch trains pulling in and out of huge vitreous shed. After that we transfer to the Theresienwiese to attend the Octoberfest. This is the biggest carnival in the world and we will have a blast.
We are visiting Ludwigsburg , one of the most beautiful castles in southern Germany . After lunch we are heading to Porsche to see the production of these dream cars. A factory tour guide, who can answer all your questions, will accompany us. At the end of the tour we will see the deliver room, where people can pick up their cars.

We take a train to Lindau ( Lake Constanz ). The old part of Lindau is situated on an island, so the train has to go over a bridge to get there. Lake Constanz borders Germany , Austria and Switzerland . After touring the town we will board a ship, which will bring us to Bregenz in Austria . After a short walk we take the funicular to the Pfänder. Over 3000 feet high we will have a fabulous panorama overlooking the lake and the Alps .

We are taking train ride to the Geislinger Steige. Many of you are familiar with this name, because Märklin issued many items around this theme. We will stay there for a few hours and then head on to Ulm . The Ulmer Munster has the tallest church tower in the world and we will climb up there. After that we have to recover at a nice pastry shop or so.

Like all good things this tour will come to an end today. Breakfast will be served early with hotel check out to follow. We will take the train and fly back.
