Product Features and Details
Prototype: Steam locomotive 38.4109 of the Austrian Federal Railways with round smoke stack. Operation condition: 1950s. The locomotives of the series 109 were the conclusion and the peak of the 2'C machines in Austria. With them the travelling time from Vienna to Triest could be reduced from 13,5 hours at the time to 10,5. By the time the BBÖ was integrated into the DRB in 1938, the series 109 was designated series 38.41. At the ÖBB the locomotives kept their original series designation. In the 1950s, eight machines were equipped with a Giesl ejector with boiling tube throttling, therefore the output could be increased by 30%. The locomotives were mainly pulling express and passenger trains.
