The Austrian 470 Class 2-8-2 steam locomotive
was designed for heavy freight and express traffic for the Royal Austrian
Railroads in 1914. Karl Gölsdorf, the famous Austrian locomotive designer,
designed it. He also designed many of Austria's famous locomotives.
The 470 were used for freight and express
service on the "Tauernbahn" which is a very mountainous route. It also
was used to pull the famous "Orient Express". Micro-Metakit will produce
four versions of the 470.
The model of the 470 is handmade in brass; it features full cab interior,
functional boiler hatch with full boiler details and a brushless, ironless
bell motor. The model also has a functional four cylinder pistons. This
model is a masterpiece and it features too many technical and optical
details to list.
Please keep in mind that quantities are extremely limited, we recommend
you not to wait too long because they will sell fast. Micro Metakit
will only produce four versions; a total of only 300 will be made. We
expect to take delivery sometime in November 2001.
