The Austrian 109 Class 4-6-0 steam
locomotive was designed for heavy express traffic for the Austrain Südbahn
in 1910. It was designed by Karl Gölsdorf, the famous Austrian locomotive
designer. He also designed many of Austria's famous locomotives. The
109 was used for express service on mountainous terrain. During World
War II, when Germany occupied Austria, the Deutsche Reichsbahn renumbered
the 109's and they became the class BR38-41. All the 109's were renumbered
and painted in the black and red livery of the DRG. Micro-Metakit will
produce seven versions of the Austrian 109. The model of the 109 is
handmade in brass, it features full cab interior, functional boiler
hatch with full boiler details and a brushless ironless bell motor.
This model is a masterpiece and it features too many technical and optical
details to list. Please keep in mind that quantities are extremely limited.
We advise you not to wait too long before reserving yours. Each version
will be produced in quantities of less than 60 pieces and we will take
delivery sometime in November 2000.
