In addition to the long standard type 1, the UIC standardized another car, which was particularly suitable for heavier loads with a LüP of only 14.04 m. As a result, this was procured by many European rail companies with and without side walls. While the DB went a special way and put on aluminum sideboards to save weight, almost all other rail companies ordered the car with conventional steel sidewalls.
