Model: Four-axle compartment car with detailed interior. Built-in interior lighting. With separately applied fans and marker signal holders. Car gangways with bellows and ladders. Close couplings mounted in guide mechanism. Negotiable minimum radius 1,020 mm / 40-5/32". Length over buffers 66.3 cm / 26-3/32".
From 1939 on the German State Railroad procured skirted passenger cars in two variants, which were practically identical. The only difference was that the ABC 4ü-39 cars had a 1st class compartment instead of the third 2nd class compartment of the BC 4ü-39 cars. The compartment lengths were the same for both classes, so that the same window distribution could be used. From the outside, the ABC car was identified by the additional "1" underneath the respective compartment window. Naturally, the car was a lot more comfortable than its thirdclass brother. The walls were clad in plywood and to some extent veneer. The German State Railway selected Linoleum as floor covering. Modern Görlitz III design bogies, ensured a quiet ride in the car. In addition to steam heating, the German State Railway also installed electric heating. The cars, built by Zypen & Charlier in Cologne-Deutz, provided optimal service. When the 1st class was done away with, the German Federal Railway designated all cars as 1st and 2nd class vehicles. the 21,250 mm / 69’8" vehicles had to give way to the 26.4 m / 86’7" standard cars.
