Since 1924 coal transport between Ruhr and northern Italy increased steadily, determiningneeds for new electric locomotives able to pull trains of 500 tons at 50 km/h on the ramps up to 27 mm/m. Trains manufacturers Sécheron from Geneva and Breda from Milano made a rails monster with wheel arrangement (1Co)(Co1), weight of 140 tons with power of 4500 HP.
