DB electric locomotive 103 233 long locomotive body, traffic red livery
Locomotive 750 003, originally 103 222-6, is a special example of the DB Class 103. It was rebuilt in the late 1980s for test and measurement runs, receiving a modified gearbox that allowed speeds of up to 280 km/h. This made it an important part of high-speed and technical tests conducted by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (German Federal Railway) and later Deutsche Bahn (German Rail).
The reclassification as Class 750 indicated its status as a service vehicle. After the completion of the test runs, it reverted to its original number but remained in service for measurement and trial runs. To this day, it is considered an important vehicle for the development of German high-speed rail and is currently operated by the railway undertaking RailAdventure.
