Prototype: Beginning in 1937 the Wehrmacht acquired a series of 8-wheeled armored cars known as Schwerer Panzerspähwagen, or heavy armored reconnaissance vehicles. After experience with 4-wheeled and 6-wheeled armored cars, it was determined that an 8-wheeled vehicle would have better off-road capabilities. These vehicles had two drivers with wheels and independent steering at the front and the back, giving them a high degree of maneuverability. The larger chassis was able to accommodate a larger V8 engine and these armored cars could achieve a maximum road speed of 53 mph. Armor protection was deemed sufficient for defending the car’s crew against small arms fire. The Sd.Kfz. 231 8-Rad was the initial version of the 8-wheeled Schwerer Panzerspähwagen and was produced from 1937 to 1941. It was armed with a 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 cannon and an MG 34 machinegun.

PLEASE NOTE: These models are all handmade and painted which makes every one unique. This means the paint patterns may vary a little and the detail parts like sandbags, turret tracks, antennas, etc. may also be arranged differently. This was also the case in real life. These models are very prototypical.
