Artitec 87.059 Highlights:
Model: Artitec's 87.059 1/87 scale WWII M12 is a resin kit and is unpainted.
Prototype: The M12 155 mm Gun Motor Carriage was a self-propelled artillery vehicle that mounted a 155 M1917 gun on a Lee/Sherman tank chassis. The large gun took up much of the space of the rear of the vehicle, leaving room for only 10 shells. Another Lee/Sherman conversion, the M30 Cargo Carrier, operated with the M12 and could carry an additional 40 shells. When firing, a rear-mounted earth spade was deployed to absorb the gun’s recoil. While a very powerful weapon, only 100 were built from 1942-1943 and we only initially used for training purposes. By the time of D-Day however most of the M12s were sent to Europe for combat operations and proved valuable for attacks against German hard fortifications.
