After signifi- cant bottlenecks emerged on the Schöllenenbahn, especially in the winter high season, the FO 1972 procured five commuter trains with the Deh 4/4 51-55 geared luggage railcar, the corresponding center and control car. Other commuter trains followed in 1979 and 1984 with the Deh 4/4 91-96. As of January 1, 2003, the BVZ Zermatt-Bahn and the Furka Oberalp Bahn merged to form the MGB. After more than five years, many vehicles presented in the new design, a common numbering scheme was, however, with the exception of the 14 panorama cars from the year 1993 not yet introduced. Vehicles of the former FO can be recognized at the '2' at the 5th position of the item number, vehicles of the former BVZ accordingly at the '5'.
