The opening of the Vereina tunnel in the winter of 1999 brought about a fundamental restructuring of regional transport between the Prättigau and the Engadin as part of the NEVA Retica "New Railway Transport Offer". For the connections Scuol - Vereina - Landquart and / or Scuol - Samedan - Pontresina the low floor control vehicles BDt 1751-1758 were procured and various EW I modernized to the formation of new commuter trains.
The NEVA control cars currently run in regional traffic with Ge 4/4 II, Ge 4/4 III or the "Allegra".
