Product Features and Details
The DRG's V 100 locomotives had an efficient and reliable design. The only problem was that they only had 735 kW/1,000 HP of power, which was inadequate for many purposes. Special modifications were made to the 12-cylinder engine, which boosted the locomotive's power to 1,100 kW/1,500 HP. This engine unit was installed in 61 of the 110 series locomotives between 1983 and 1990. The DR gave the resulting most power-ful version of the V 100 the class designation 114.
