Information about the model
Since it was discovered after the founding of the DRG (German State Railway) that the rolling stock of the southwestern German railway divisions was particularly outdated, numerous carriages were transferred there. By 1929, 2,500 Prussian compartment carriages had thus arrived in the southwest and approximately 1,000 in Saxony. Following the abolition of third class, the existing baggage carriages of the three standard-sheet issues (Ib 11) were also retrofitted with benches. After the conversion, they were all classified as C3u Pr 04/30. This was actually an unusual circumstance and made it difficult to identify the original design. The newer carriages could still be identified by their pressed-steel axle boxes and the steps instead of ladders on the end wall. Despite the acquisition of new standard carriages, the DRG could not do without the compartment carriages for the time being. In 1935, over 7,000 C3 Pr 11 and approximately 4,000 C3tr Pr 13 coaches were still in service, although around 3,000 of these were now running without luggage compartments. After trials with two-axle compartment coaches in 1920, 450 third-class coaches were delivered as two-axle units, but a major conversion program was not undertaken. Thus, most coaches continued to operate with virtually unchanged exteriors until the end of the war. It wasn't until the late 1930s that the coach bodies began to be re-sheeted, and the top rails were omitted.
