In 1887 and 1889, the K.W.St.E. in Esslingen acquired a total of 15 compartment coaches, which provided space for 5 passengers in 1st class and 21 in 2nd class. In addition, they had two toilets with washing facilities. This augmented the not very large fleet of compartment coaches in Württemberg. However, the coaches used in express trains were not very popular with the public, which meant that no more compartment coaches were purchased. The remaining vehicles were already equipped with wooden benches in 1924 and allocated to 4th class.
