Information about the model
The UIC standardized flat wagon type 2 with a loading length of 12.64 m and a length over buffers (LüP) of 14.04 m. This wagon was procured by almost all European railways, both with and without sideboards. From 1968 onwards, DB (Deutsche Bundesbahn) acquired a total of 2,695 wagons of types 663 and 664 without sideboards and 660 units of type 665 with sideboards. A distinctive feature of the DB wagons was their aluminum sideboards, while other European railways preferred steel sideboards. A large proportion of the wagons procured by DB are still in service after some modifications. These modifications included equipping them with Y25 bogies and converting some wagons into container wagons.
