Product Features and Details
German merchants joined forces with US "Standard Oil of Ohio" in 1890 to found the "Deutsch-Amerikanische Petroleum Gesellschaft" (DAPG). The DAPG marketed its petrol under the brand name of "Dapolin" until 1931, and then as "Standard Benzin" and "Super Esso". Esso is the phonetic pronunciation of the first letters of standard and oil. The DAPG had a large number of its own tank cars in the Deutsche Reichsbahn's fleet for the transportation of the oil products, many of them featuring large company logos.
