Product Features and Details
At the end of the 1970s, the star of the twoaxle O-cars slowly began to fade. The energy crisis and the conversion of domestic heating lead to a massive decrease in coal transportation and thus one of the main transport goods disappeared. In addition, from 1978 onwards the DB purchased four-axle O-cars for the first time after a long period of hesitation whereas in the DR such vehicles had been the standard for many years. Thus a four-axle vehicle O-car could de facto replace two of the small ones. The E017/037 were appreciated for many years for use in sugar beet transportation, which was still carried out by rail at that time in Germany.
