The Re 4/4 II are universal locomotives and are therefore used in front of travel and freight trains. Heavy trains are usually carried in double traction along with a Re 6/6. The locomotives of the Re 4/4 II represent the largest series of rail vehicles from SBB with 277 machines delivered and were procured between 1964 and 1985. With an output of 4,700 kW, the machine reaches a maximum speed of 140 km/h.
