    In 1915 the Company of Hartmann Chemnitz started plans for a four-axle locomotive express. It was to have to axle weight not exceeding 17 tonnes and had to fit the 20-meter turn tables in Saxony. The first of a total of twenty-three locomotives of the new type XX HV (later the BR 19) was put into service in 1918. The locomotive performed well in mountainous terrain. It was at home in the round-houses of Dresden and in 1922 and Reichenbach was also stationed Stuttgart-Rosenstein. These locomotives were in the preferred choice for the Berlin, Leipzig, Regensburg and Nuremberg lines. 19 017 has been preserved and can be seen today in the Transport Museum in Dresden.
