The CC 6500 "Maurienne"
Intended to be used for less noble services on the Culoz-Chambéry-Modane line, the CC 6500 "Maurienne" (CC 6539 to 6559) delivered in 1971-1972, receive a green livery and are fitted with friction switches for power supply by 3rd rail.
From 1977, their 3rd rail equipment was gradually dismantled and they were used interchangeably with the other “red” CC 6500s on the South-East network. Some “Maurienne” locomotives were repainted in “Grand Comfort” livery in the mid-1980s.
The CC 6549, 6558 and 6559 from the Vénissieux depot, will be among the last machines withdrawn from service in July 2007.
