Prototype: The first variant of the latest Traxx III Series was presented the 187 series in the spring of 2011 by Bombardier. This is an equipped AC locomotive that is optionally equipped with an additional powerful diesel auxiliary motor, if necessary on route segments without catenary (last mile) to go. For the first time, the side surfaces of electric locomotive were having a device for clamping Plan, where advertising can be attached, equipped. The internal name of Bombardier for this locomotive is Traxx F140AC3. In May 2013 there was a framework agreement between Deutsche Bahn and Bombardier. For this contract 110 locomotives for the DB Schenker Rail and 20 are made for DB Regio. The first locomotive of the new series 187 Traxx III is scheduled for delivery in spring 2015 from Bombardier to DB for testing purposes. Other orders, such as by Rail Pool and BLS has already taken place at Bombardier. These locomotives in the next few years will sure to become a strong competitor for Traxx Taurus and Vectron from Siemens.
