Prototype: Three-part diesel train train series 614/914 of the DB AG epoch V. Version in the color traffic-red color.

In 1971, the DB made two prototypes of the series 614 develop. Designed specially for the district and regional traffic DMUs - an evolution of the series 624/634 - got an upwardly slightly tapered car body, because a so-called "track-curve-dependent vehicle body control (GST)" should be installed This gave the trainset its typical shape.. but since the GST brought nothing ultimately was dropped with the supplied 1973 to 1977 40 production vehicles out - but the body shape remained.

MAN manufactured the medium-sized cars for 25 units, while the Wagon Factory Uerdingen produced the traction units equipped with a 330 kW or later 367 kW engine. The last 15 sets (from 1975) were then completely manufactured by MAN. Although the trainsets were designed as three-unit units (204 seats in the second and 2 x 12 seats in the first class), they were designed to be multi-tractionable and, occasionally, even in the initial phase, also occasionally with a 4-part centercar. On the other hand, multitraction was rather a rarity, in later years there were almost no more.

The first 25 units were allocated to Bw Nuremberg, from where the trainsets were used on all non-electrified lines of Frankens and Oberpfalz. The last 15 trains - meanwhile in the color ocean blue / ivory - were stationed in Bw Braunschweig, from where they traveled on the routes eg to Paderborn, Göttingen, Münster or Bielefeld They were also observed on the Heidebahn from Buchholz via Soltau to Hanover at the end of their working hours.

Most of the cars were later painted in Minttürkis / Lichtgrau and in the end almost exclusively in traffic red. In the course of a partial modernization, a few units received a stronger (448 kW) engine. Nearly all of DB AG's last stations in Nuremberg and Braunschweig were modernized again, for example, the luggage compartment was lost, the windows were replaced, and a window was added. Of course, these housing-specific changes have also been taken into account in the LILIPUT models!

On February 15, 2011, after a period of application of the series of exactly 40 years, the last operable unit, which had been stationed in Nuremberg since its delivery in 1973 and even had the "pop" painting (614 005/006 and 914 003) , The DB Museum in Nuremberg, which is now available for special journeys.

Model: AC model with built-in ESU digital decoder, prepared for the installation of sound decoders and loudspeakers. Engine with flywheel. Traction tires. Top lighting changes with direction of travel. With interior and interior lighting. Each 1 engine with flywheel is designed in every end car. Operation Nos. 614 055-2, 914 027-8 and 614 056-0, LiP 913 mm.
