As autotowers railway and tramway vehicles are known, which are specifically designed for work on the overhead line. The first vehicles of this type were simple idler flat cars. But it did not take long and is also present that the standard vehicles for work on the catenary in most railway companies railcar were or are. It is special-purpose vehicles based on ordinary railcar. You have on the roof above a working platform (usually raised and swivel) and a small workshop inside the car.

The progressive electrification of the main, but even secondary ones in Bavaria also required maintenance attitude vehicles for an optimum state of catenary. To decommission the overaged vehicles from the early days, were procured by the Deutsche Reichsbahn from the end of the 20s new buildings. While the vehicles were produced by ZA Maffei, came the electrical equipment of SSW (Siemens-Schuchert works) and the accumulators of AFA (accumulators-Fabrik AG). The prototype of our model was built around 1930. It was first put into service with No. 701 406 mu, at DB he was given the number 6205 Munich, then finally the computer number 703003-4. He was still in use in 1971. Unfortunately, he was not obtained Musealverein, just as its sister car.
