Product Features and Details
Prototype: The S3/5 was considered one of the most exquisite express locomotives. With it's fine lines, gold boiler bands and Meticulous detailed pin striping this locomotive made a statement! The S3/5 was developed by J.A. Maffei/München in 1906. They produced two versions; the S3/5N was a four cylinder wet steam locomotive, and the H was a four cylinder hot steam locomotive. The S3/5 was placed into service to haul heavy express trains between München, Augsburg and Nürnberg.
Model: Micro-Metakit's model is completely functional and highly detailed just like the prototype. The model has a functional 4 cylinder drive system, the two inner pistons and crank shafts are functional and move in unison with the outer two pistons and drive rods. For a model this is a remarkable accomplishment. It also features a brush-less, ironless "Faulhaber" motor, full cab interior, functional boiler hatch with inner boiler details and removable roof.
