Prototype: The Saxonian Class IV Mallet was built in 1898 by Hartmann in Chemnitz Germany. The Class IV remained in service until the late 1920's. It was used mainly for freight service on mountainous terrain.
Model: Class IV Mallet 1900 version. Many collectors have been waiting for Micro-Metakit to produce this exquisite freight locomotive. The Class IV Mallet is completely functional and highly detailed just like the prototype. The model has a functional twin cylinder drive system. You will notice that the class IV has four functional cylinders and a completely articulated frame, a remarkable accomplishment. It also features a brush-less, ironless "Faulhaber" motor, full cab interior, functional boiler hatch with inner boiler details and removable roof. The class IV Mallet is handmade out of brass and available in six versions. Quantities will be limited so order soon.
