Product Features and Details
Prototype: History: The new T28 Adhesion Rack Locomotives will be a fanstastic new model from Micro Metakit. The T28 Adhesion/Rack locomotive was one of the largest adhesion/rack locomotive ever built. It was built by Borsig in 1922 The T28 was a 2-cylinder 2-8-2 with supplementary 2-cylinder engine for the Abt System rack drive which together acted as a 4-cylinder compound when operating on the rack drive. They were placed into service on on routes with steep grades.
Model: Micro Metakit introduced the plans to built this model four years ago and finally it will be delivered in Fall 2007. The model will be a functional work of art. It will feature a complete and functional inner rack system and will run with a double motion drive just like the prototype. The outer drive rods will turn slower and the inner rods will spin twice as fast to move the cog gears and counter weights. This model was a mechanical challenge and Micro Metakit finally figured out how to a make it all work. The T28 will make a nice additional to any collection especially for those lucky collectors you already own some of the other rack locomotives that Micro Metakit produced. Only 80 models were made please reserve one today to garuantee delivery.
