Micro Metakit Heavy Articulated Mallet Class BR 51  
    

Prototype:  Deutsche Reichsbahn class 51 heavy articulate Mallet was originally an Hungarian locomotive.  It was built by Maschinenfabrik MAV Budapest in 1913 and remained in service until after WWII.  The BR 51 was fitted with a class 'M' three axle tender and a large air tank on top of the boiler.  The BR 51 was a strong locomotive and used for medium and heavy freight service mostly in East Europe.

Model:  Micro Metakit first introduced the plans to build this model in 2004.  Articulated Mallet locomotives have always been considered the most interesting types of steam locomotives.  Micro Metakit's BR 51 will be a HANDMADE functional work of art.  The locomotive will be constructed out of brass with extensive detail.  It will be fully articulated just like the prototype.  Model will feature full interior cab details, sprung loaded puffers, functional boiler door and much more.  Six versions will be produced but they are very limited, only about 300 will be produced worldwide.  Model will be delivered sometime in September of 2009.
