Product Features and Details
New for 2026: In 2019, Siemens Mobility presented the Vectron Dual Mode, a dual-mode locomotive equipped with both a diesel engine and high-voltage equipment for drawing power from the overhead line.
This means the locomotives are not dependent on the catenary wire and can be used more flexibly and resource-efficiently across the entire operating range. Siemens offers the locomotives in two versions: the Vectron Dual Mode, designated BR 248 in Germany, and the Vectron Dual Mode light, designated BR 249.
