Product Features and Details
The DR BR 118 was the largest diesel locomotive built in the GDR and was manufactured by VEB Lokomotivbau "Karl Marx" in Potsdam-Babelsberg. The locomotive was developed to replace obsolete steam locomotives. Series production began in 1963.
The BR 118 was used universally and carried both express and heavy freight trains. In 1995, the last copies left the operating service of the DB AG. On some private railways, the robust locomotives could be observed in action for a considerably longer period.
The model:
In the model, the housing of the respective locomotive variant with the fan grilles, flaps and handrails was exactly reproduced. Fine engravings of the frame and the bogies as well as the authentic paintwork and lettering make the model particularly attractive.
It is driven by a powerful motor via cardan shafts to the gears, which drive four wheel sets. The model has white / red lighting that changes in the direction of travel and is supplied with a PluX16 interface; sound retrofitting is in preparation.
