Novelty 2024: The PIKO model of the 245 series appears in red paint with DB Biscuit and “bwegt†logo. The 245 is a series model that differs from the pre-series locomotives in the number and design of the roof and side fans and the chimney. Of particular note are the precisely manufactured parts and assemblies, such as the solid die-cast zinc frame, etched metal ventilation grilles, the prototypically detailed bogies and numerous free-standing attached parts, such as the front handlebars. The model has a white/red light change and is factory-equipped with a PSD XP sound decoder with a large speaker. The model bears the “fits mfx†quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Marklin digital centers, a new quality mark fits mfx was introduced together with Marklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx test and have passed it completely. These decoders and the locomotives in which they are installed carry the fits mfx quality mark, which certifies the unrestricted mfx functionality. This means that PIKO products with the “fits mfx†logo now fully support the diverse functions of mfx.
