New in 2024: Printed version of the BR 231 DR in Era IV. Based exactly on the original, the model has the large front and side windows of the first delivery series. Just as typical were the separately attached handrails in front of the driver's cab and the tidy roof. Prototype-oriented model railroaders were also impressed by the precisely reproduced, robust bogie detailing, which also withstands the rigors of everyday operation on the model railroad. The engine with two flywheels, together with the heavy die-cast zinc frame, the elegant cardan shaft drive on four axles (two wheels covered with traction tires in a diagonal arrangement), gives the model excellent running properties and high tractive power. The model comes with a matching PSD XP sound decoder with a large speaker and impresses with a wide range of digital and sound functions. The model bears the “fits mfx†quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Marklin digital centers, a new quality mark fits mfx was introduced together with Marklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx test and have passed it completely. These decoders and the locomotives in which they are installed carry the fits mfx quality mark, which certifies the unrestricted mfx functionality. This means that PIKO products with the “fits mfx†logo now fully support the diverse functions of mfx.
