Custom Z-Scale Briefcase Layout
This z-scale layout named 'Rothenburg' is a thoughtfully crafted tribute to the charming German town in northern Bavaria renowned for its iconic town walls, gatehouses, and towers. The layout, measuring 22" x 16" x 5" is unique in its artistry, with all elements seamlessly blended into their surroundings. Rokuhan track circles its way through a picturesque landscape adorned with twenty-four painted and weathered structures, including six scratch-built buildings with shingles laid row-by-row. Climbing vines and richly textured foliage envelope the structures, evoking an old-world feeling of a simpler time and existence. The layout includes thirty-five figures and seven vehicles depicting four scenes: a group of workers unloading a truck, a shepherd and his two dogs herding a flock of sheep, travelers waiting for the next train, and tourists strolling the town square. An independent switch turns on nine lights, four in the streets and five within certain interiors, illuminating the layout in a warm, soft glow.
The case (24" x 18" x 6") that holds the layout is built for transportation and storage, but can also be used to elevate the layout for display. Its rich wood tones exude the rustic charm of recycled materials and the woodworking craft. The Rokuhan speed controller can be powered by a 9V battery (not included) or the provided AC adapter. Space beneath the layout offers storage for rolling stock containers. A neoprene foam insert with three compartments is provided for the storage of rolling stock without containers. Please note that the track curvature has a 145mm (5-3/4") radius and cannot accommodate long locomotives or rolling stock (a 0-6-0 steam locomotive and short freight cars were used to position certain scenic elements).
