In 1981, the German Federal Post Office (DBP) acquired ten Gos 245/Gos-uv 245 type covered freight cars from the DB for postal traffic in and around Berlin. All cars were assigned to the Hanover Regional Postal Service (OPD). Although they were purely freight cars, these cars also received passenger car numbers. Some of the cars were in use until 1992.
