Between 1939 and 1943, a total of 3.164 units of the class 50 goods locomotive were built in twenty-one different locomotive factories. These locomotives could reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h, had an output of approximately 1.200 kW, and an axle load of 15 tonnes. After the Second World War, 18 locomotives were in Austria, and 12 were included in the ÖBB's new designation scheme in 1953. Some of these locomotives remained in service until 1972.
