At the beginning of the 1990s, there was a shortage of suitable locomotives due to the increase in passenger carriages with electric train heating. Due to positive results from retrofitting locomotives of the 753 series, the CSD decided to retrofit all diesel locomotives used in passenger traffic with electric train heating. "Diving goggles" of this type were also in use in Slovakia after the state division. In order to distinguish them from the original version, they were given the series designation 750 while retaining the serial number.
