Following the production of several prototypes, the Jenbacher Werke supplied the class 2043, featuring a 1,500 hp two-stroke diesel engine. Originally, this locomotive was approved for 100 km/h, and later for 110 km/h. With its axle pressure of 17 tonnes, it was also suitable for operation on branch lines.
