Similar to the "Taurus" locomotives, the 2016 series also has a classic name: "Hercules", named after the hero of Greek mythology with his superhuman strength.
From 2002 to 2004, a total of 100 of these diesel-electric universal locomotives were put into service by the ÖBB. The locomotive is not only capable of multiple traction, but also of being a push-pull train. The engine power is 2,000 kW and the top speed is 140 km/h. With an axle load of 20 tons, it can also be used on branch lines.
