The Railpool company benefited back in 2009 when Angel Trains found no use for its new fleet of 186 101 - 110 and was thus able to take them over by Railpool. The locomotives, initially intended as the D-A-CH-I variant, also received the country package for the Netherlands. 186 251, also ordered by ATC, was intended for the countries of Germany, Austria, and Poland and undertook initial test runs in 2008. It was also sold to Railpool in 2011. All eleven locomotives were never accepted by Angel Trains and initially served as test locomotives before later being transferred to Railpool. The locomotives laid an important foundation for the certification tests in the Netherlands.
