Electric locomotive 103 002 of the German Federal Railway. - Pilot series version with scissors pantographs - Operating condition: up to 1976 - With individually switchable headlight or tail light, driver’s cab lighting and engine room lighting in digital mode - Suitable locomotive for D 377 “Hispania Express”, items 6200051, 6200052, 6200053 - Z21 driver’s cab available On the occasion of the International Transport Exhibition in Munich in 1965, the German Federal Railway regularly ran trains at speeds of up to 200 km/h for the first time. The four locomotives of the class E 03 were then used for test runs as well as to pull particularly fast TEE and F trains. With delivery of the class 103.1 locomotives, the pilot class locomotives were transferred to test service over time. Starting in the summer of 1974, all 103 pilot series units were based at the Hamburg-Eidelstedt depot. In addition to three express train pairs to Nuremberg and Munich, express trains to Lüneburg, Hanover, Hildesheim and Bremen were then on the schedule. Long-distance service was gradually discontinued, although non-scheduled express train service did occur. In autumn 1979, the use of the 103.0 class in regular service was discontinued and all four locomotives were permanently transferred to test service of the Germany Federal Railway. Replica of the 103 002 as it was in service until September 1976. Then it received UIC sockets, grab handles and ergonomic access ladders at the ends. A year later, single-arm pantographs followed, before the skirts under the buffer beams were finally removed in autumn 1980. The model is perfectly for the 160 km/h “Hispania” express train suited instead of a scheduled series 103.
