Between 1911 and 1914, 16 locomotives of this type, specially designed for the Mariazellerbahn, were purchased by the former Lower Austrian State Railways. Between 1959 and 1962, the locomotives were modernized while retaining the original chassis and, in particular, were equipped with new locomotive bodies. The locomotives reached a top speed of 50 km/h and had an output of 405 kW. Thirteen of the locomotives were officially named after communities on the Mariazellerbahn and given their coats of arms.
