The Class 01.10 with its new boiler is the ideal steam locomotive for the express train D 74 "Hamburg Altona - Basel SBB" on the Frankfurt-Basel section of the line, which can be recreated using the carriages from items 42491, 42533, and 42526.
Prototype: German Federal Railroad (DB) class 01.10 express steam locomotive with a new high-performance boiler design and a type 2’3 T38 tender. Black basic paint scheme with red running gear. Version without streamlined fairing. The model features silver boiler bands. Dual headlights. Witte smoke deflectors and an inductive magnet on one side. Loco road number 01 1059. The loco looks as it did after the boiler conversion around 1955/56.
They were intended to haul the “ICE” trains of the 1940s. We’re talking about the 55 elegant, super-fast, and powerful streamlined express steam locomo- tives of the class 01.10. And although little of this pomp and splendor remained after the Second World War, those in charge recognized the potential of this loco type despite its various teething problems. Between 1953 and 1956, the three-cylinder locos were fitted with new high-performance boilers and modern mixer preheaters. This resulted in super-powered steam locos that became a mainstay of premium express services. It was not uncommon for them to cover distances of 25,000 kilometers (15,500 miles) per month right up to the end of their career in 1975. This makes this legendary loco an absolute must for your model railroad fleet.
