LAND ONLY PRICE (per person)                   $2995.00

We decided to offer just the land only package for this trip. Many of you have frequent flyer miles or would like to use a different airline or upgraded seating. In any case we will help you to get the right fare through our travel bureau.

    Day 1, Monday, April 13

    Chicago-Frankfurt

We are leaving Chicago late afternoon on your non-stop flight to Frankfurt. Cocktails and dinner will be served en route.

    Day 2, Tuesday, April 14

    Frankfurt-Dortmund

After going through Immigration and Customs we board a train to Dortmund which brings us there within 2 hours. After checking into the hotel the afternoon is free for your own activities. We will meet for dinner at 7:30 and probably will call it a night after that.

    Day 3, Wednesday, April 15

    Dortmund Intermodellbau

You have not seen something like this before. There will be over 550 exhibitors showing the latest and greatest of the model-making industry. This show is geared towards end users, so you will see the models used in various applications. A highlight will be the more than 40 layouts with absolute stunning detail. This show does not cater alone to the train enthusiasts but also to other model builders. In the 100.000 gallon pool you see all different ship models with the newest gadgets in RC. Another hall is just dedicated to airplanes and you will be amazed how people can control their models.

    Day 4, Thursday, April 16

    Dortmund Intermodellbau

Many of our fellow travelers asked us to spend a second day at the show. So we do just that. More models, more layouts and applications to see. You can also attend some of the workshops to get new skills. If you don’t want to go to the show a second day we can put a Dortmund sightseeing package together for you.

    Day 5, Friday, April 17

    Transfer form Dortmund to Dresden

We are leaving Dortmund early and head towards Dresden. After checking into our new hotel you have a few hours to rest or explore the city. At 7:00 pm we have to be at the Railroad Museum to watch the night parade of the steam locomotives. Several steam locomotives will come on the turntable and will be turned around for a photo-op.

    Day 6, Saturday, April 18

    Dresden-Steam Locomotive Fest

Steam Locomotive ride through the beautiful Elbe Valley. Today we climb on board our steam train. Our 3 hour ride will bring us through the Saxonian Switzerland to the Czech Republic and back to Dresden. Back at the depot you can climb on many of the steam locomotive and even get a cab ride in some of those magnificent iron horses.

    Day 7, Sunday, April 19

    Dresden-Zittau-Oybin

    Narrow Gauge Steam Ride
We have never been on this route before so it will be a first even for us.

We take a standard gauge train from Dresden to Zittau. There, we just walk a few steps to the narrow gauge station where we will board our train to Bertsdorf. This town is very significant to this route because there will be 2 trains leaving at the same time. One is heading to the spa Oybin while the other one is on its way to the health resort Jonsdorf. So we will stay in this area to explore all those different destinations. In the evening we will return back to Dresden.

    Day 8, Monday, April 20

    Dresden-City Tour Sightseeing

We decided to use the Hop-On Hop-Off bus service of the city. This tour takes about 2 hours and brings you to 22 important sights of Dresden. We recommend to do the complete route first and then at the second round to get off and on at the most interesting sights to you. We give you the rest of the day off so you can do your souvenir shopping.

    Day 9, Tuesday, April 21

    Dresden-Bastei

This is a real highlight for me. We take a bus along the Elbe River through the Saxon Switzerland to the Bastei. This rock formation is so impressive because there is hardly anything in comparison. Many poets and composers were inspired by these rugged mountains. We will also see the mountain fortress Königstein, one of the grandest in Europe.

    Day 10, Wednesday, April 22

    Dresden-Chicago

Like all good things, this tour will come to an end today. Breakfast is early in the morning with hotel check out to follow. We will transfer to our airport and fly back home.

    Welcome Home!
