    Air travel from Chicago

Please note: You can choose any airport for departure and we will help you with the arrangements, if you wish.

LAND ONLY PRICE (per person)                   $2995.00

    Day 1, Thursday, January 28

    Chicago-Amsterdam

We are leaving Chicago late afternoon on your non-stop flight to Frankfurt. Cocktails and dinner will be served en route.

    Day 2, Saturday, January 29

    Amsterdam-Nürnberg-Lichtenfels

One hour before landing they will serve breakfast. After checking through immigration and customs you will board your next flight to Nürnberg. In Nürnberg we take a short train ride to Lichtenfels. After checking into the hotel the afternoon is free for your own activities. We will meet for dinner at 7:30 and probably will call it a night after that.

    Day 3, Saturday, January 30

    Nürnberg Toy Fair

The Toy Fair is surely the highlight of our tour. For any individual that likes toys, trains, Christmas ornaments or any hobby related products this fair is a must. Visiting the Toy Fair is a rare opportunity, because it is not open to the public; our guests are allowed to visit the fair because we get them in as employees. The fair is a treat for our eyes. The manufactures’ booths are incredible with all the new products, all the layouts and dioramas – we will be like kids in a candy store.

    Day 4, Sunday, January 31

German Steam Locomotive Museum in Neuenmarkt

We take a short train ride from Lichtenfels to Neuenmarkt. From the station we walk over to the former roundhouse which shelter over 30 Steam locomotives, from the big BR10 to the tiny Glaskasten. Neuenmarkt is on the foot of the Schiefe Ebene a steep incline on the route between Bamberg and Hof. In the steam era the depot housed all the heavy steam locomotives like the BR95 and BR96 which were used as pusher locomotives to get the trains over the 2.3 percent incline.

    Day 5, Monday, February 01

Narrow Gauge Ride Cranzahl – Oberwiesenthal

You know us, there is no Toy Fair tour without a narrow gauge steam ride. Our bus will pick us up at the hotel and bring us to Cranzahl. This is one of the nicest narrow gauge train rides in Germany. Our destination point (Oberwiesenthal) is 2999 feet above sea level and therefore the highest situated town in Germany. Besides tourism and winter sports Oberwiesenthal is also known for their wood carvings. Expressive items from this region are the “Smoking Men, the Christmas Pyramids and the Schwibbogen”. I am sure you can find an artsy item for yourself.

    Day 6, Tuesday, February 02

    Lichtenfels – Amsterdam

Well, our days in Bavaria are over and today we will head to Amsterdam. We will board our ICE, which will bring us to Amsterdam in about 7 hours. After we settle in our new hotel, we give you the rest of the day off to relax or do as you wish.

    Day 7, Wednesday, February 03

    Amsterdam-City

We will use our first day in Amsterdam for sightseeing. We are using the Hop-On, Hop Off service, because it will bring us to all the major sights. I would recommend staying on the bus for the complete tour (about 70 minutes) to pick out the most interesting places to get off on the second round. Main Attractions would be the Museum Square, Vondelpark, the Heineken Brewery, the Sarphatistraat and the Gassan Diamond Company.

    Day 8, Thursday, February 04

    Amsterdam-Utrecht

Just a short train ride will bring us to Utrecht. Our destination is the famous train museum there. Not only that they have a wonderful collection of rolling stock, they even have rebuilt train station from the glory days of international train travel. If we have time left we can enjoy the sights of this town also.

    Day 9, Friday, February 05

    Amsterdam –Ghent

Our fast train will bring us to Ghent in Belgium. Ghent is a medieval city with sights like the Castle Gravensteen, St. Bavo’s Cathedral, St. Nicholas Church, the Belfry Tower, Graslei, Saint Michael’s Church and not to forget the Castle of Gerald the Devil.

    Day 10, Sunday, February 06

Like all good things, this tour will come to an end today. Breakfast is early in the morning with hotel check out to follow. We will transfer to Amsterdam Airport and fly back home.
