Model: Artitec's 387.44-YW 1/87 scale BMW R75 motorcycle w/ sidecar is fully assembled and painted Gelbbraun RAL 8000, used by vehicles of the Afrika Korps in the deserts of North Africa. All the new Artitec finished models are highly detailed works of art. They are all hand painted and finished using the highest quality resin, plastic and metal parts. Add a few to your collection today before they are sold out. Models are made in small production runs so don't delay in ordering.

Prototype: BMW, along with its rival Zündapp, produced most of the Wehrmacht’s motorcycles during World War II. The BMW R75 was specifically manufactured for the Wehrmacht beginning in 1938 and was powered by a OHV 745cc engine. The sidecar’s wheel was connected by axel to the R75’s rear wheel, giving the combination increased maneuverability. The BMW R75 was typically used as a light reconnaissance or dispatch vehicle and it was common for the sidecar to mount and MG 34 machine gun. BMW and Zündapp motorcycles became stereotypical of German motorized forces due to their frequent appearance in massed formations in pre-war propaganda films. One of the most memorable appearances of a BMW R75 is the use of a Russian-built copy in the motorcycle “joust” scene in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

PLEASE NOTE: These models are all handmade and painted which makes every one unique. This means the paint patterns may vary a little and the detail parts like sandbags, turret tracks, antennas, etc. may also be arranged differently. This was also the case in real life. These models are very prototypical.
