On Metererspurgleisen from Nagold to Altensteig steamed in 1891, the first narrow gauge train of the Royal Württemberg State Railways. In the following years, the KWSt.E opened the Bottwartalbahn Marbach-Heilbronn South, the Zaberg weaner Lauffen-Leonbronn as well as the two Upper Swabian railways Schussenried-Riedlingen and Biberach-Ochsenhausen - all with a track width of 750 mm.
First, the KWSt.E. on various steam locomotive designs with Klose engines. 1898 to 1913 were also supplied by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen Malletloks Tssd. They and some taken over from Saxony or rebuilt by the DRG sow. VI K coined the picture for a long time. Even the five diesel locomotives V51 / V52 for 750 mm or meter gauge supplied by Gmeinder in 1964 were unable to prevent the decline of the romantic railways in Upper Swabia, the Neckar Valley and the Black Forest. In the middle to the end of the sixties, then came the end for the five Württemberg DB -Schmalspurbahnen; only the goods traffic on the "Öchsle" remained until 1983. On the once last DB narrow gauge railway on the mainland established an attractive museum operation.
