Despite the acknowledged advantages, not only steel cars were acquired after their trial period. One of the reasons was that not every wagon factory was immediately prepared for construction without wooden supporting parts. For the K.P.E.V. or P.St.E.V. only the companies in Görlitz, Wismar, LHB Breslau and van der Zypen Cologne supplied steel passenger coaches. As they were no longer built according to a standardised sample sheet, the individual series varied slightly
in appearance.
