Product Features and Details
Due to the great lack of coaches after the war, the DR was not able to dispense with any passenger coaches and also used the compartment coaches up to the beginning of the 1970s. Smoking was obviously obligatory at that time, as the "smoker" signs were dispensed with and only the non-smoker compartments were marked. At the beginning it was planned to standardise the undercarriages and provide them with a new coach body, but it soon became clear that this was not advisable due to the haggard condition. The Reko cars were therefore created completely out of new material and for each one an old compartment coach was decommissioned. In GDR language usage, this was a "replacement investment".
