Product Features and Details
Only first class coaches of "pike" construction type
were not bought by the PKP, the most comfortable coaches were the ABs. These were produced as the first ever "Polish Pike" coaches in July 1928 at Lilpop, Rau & Loewenstein in Warsaw as part of a 14 coach trial series. All coaches, also of other classes, had a uniform length of 22,020 mm and ran on American-type bogies ("swan-neck bogies"). Up to 1941, the design of the coaches was modified several times, so that there were many visual differences. The last delivery batches were already produced with welding technology.
The DRB added approx. 700 coaches to its fleet, of which a large number remained with the DB after 1945. As an exchange of coaches with Poland did not take place,
a large number of coaches were renovated for further use. The interior in particular was adapted to the new requirements. The "250 096 Bln" is the original PKP coach 3401. After 1945 it remained with the DB, was modernised in 1953 by Hansa Waggon Bremen and after 37 years of service was decommissioned in May 1965.
