Information about the model
As the only state railway in Germany, Württemberg based its rolling stock on the "American system" for the first two decades after the start of its railway construction. It procured exclusively four-axle passenger cars with a central aisle and open platforms for boarding, including 181 third-class cars built in three delivery series between 1845 and 1867. Rebuilt several times, fitted with toilets and different windows, many of these cars remained in service for over 70 years. In 1907, they were incorporated into the newly created fourth class and transferred to the DRG (German Reich Railway) fleet as D4i cars, where they remained in regular service until the 1930s.
